A Taste of the Dragon

Design and Eat you Mooncake

September 21th, 2024
Workshop

On September 21st, the Heritage Museum of Asian Art hosted "A Taste of the Dragon," a personalized mooncake-making experience. Visitors were greeted with a colorful assortment of ingredients beautifully arranged on wooden plates, along with all the necessary tools to create their own mooncakes.

Following an expert demonstration from Ruiying Xiong, participants eagerly dove into the process—folding, kneading, and customizing their mooncakes with a variety of fillings. Each creation was molded into unique, intricate shapes, inspired by both tradition and personal creativity.

This hands-on workshop was a perfect blend of food, art, and culture, offering attendees an opportunity to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival in a uniquely interactive way. It provided a creative avenue to explore the symbolic significance of the dragon, an enduringly powerful figure in Asian culture.

Participants not only crafted mooncakes but also gained a deeper appreciation for the cultural heritage behind them. The event highlighted the joy of artistic food creation and encouraged a playful exploration of flavors and designs, making it an unforgettable experience for food lovers and cultural enthusiasts alike.
