About the event
Join the Heritage Museum of Asian Art for a special preview evening celebrating Beasts, Aviary and Ritual of Ancient China, an extraordinary exhibition exploring the symbolic and spiritual world of ancient Chinese jade.
Featuring nearly 50 rare jade carvings spanning from the Neolithic period to the Ming dynasty, the exhibition presents ritual objects, mythical beasts, birds, ceremonial forms, and protective talismans that reveal how jade functioned not only as a material of beauty and status, but also as a bridge between humanity, nature, and the cosmos. Across thousands of years of Chinese history, jade embodied spiritual beliefs, political authority, ancestral reverence, and ideas of harmony and protection.
Many of the works on view have remained outside public exhibition for nearly fifty years!
The preview party offers guests an intimate first look at the exhibition before its public opening. The evening will include special refreshments, opportunities to socialize with jade collectors and members of the community, and a chance to meet the collector of this remarkable collection in person while learning more about the history and significance of the works on display.
