About the event

This artist talk centers on Seoul-based artist Anna Han’s experiences participating in artist residency programs across Asia. Visiting Chicago for this special in-person program as part of the Morning Asia series, Han will share firsthand reflections on residencies including Tokyo Arts and Space (TOKAS) and the SeMA Nanji Residency in Seoul.
Drawing from her time working within these institutional and cultural contexts, Han will discuss how residency structures, place, and community have shaped her artistic practice—from daily studio routines and creative research to ongoing cross-cultural dialogue. Please register to receive the meeting link.
Through these reflections, audiences gain a rare, insider perspective on Asian artist residency programs, illuminating how they support artistic development while fostering international exchange. Han’s multidisciplinary practice—engaging memory, displacement, language, and the experience of living between cultures—emerges organically from these lived, professional encounters.
Morning Asia is a program series by the Heritage Museum of Asian Art that introduces artist residency programs across Asia to Chicago audiences. Through artist talks and online presentations by residency organizations, Morning Asia highlights how artists live, work, research, and create within international residency contexts. The series fosters cross-cultural exchange, supports global artistic networks, and lays the groundwork for future artist exchange opportunities between Asia and Chicago.
