Chinese Traditional Peony Painting Workshop (2 pm - 3 pm)

The Chinese Traditional Painting Workshop at the Heritage Museum of Asian Art will explore the rich tradition of Chinese painting and learn how to create your masterpiece in this ancient art form.

Chinese painting has a long history, dating back over a thousand years. It is known for its unique style, emphasizing brushwork, color, and composition. From landscapes to portraits, Chinese painting encompasses various subjects and techniques. We focus on peonies in this session on  February 25th at 2 pm. Peonies were established in the Chinese cultural esthetic as symbols of female beauty, love, wealth and status by the Tang dynasty (8-12th centuries CE). By the Song dynasty, peonies had become a favorite muse of Chinese painters, and until today they are still one of the classical subjects. Besides, in this workshop, our experienced instructor will guide you through the basics of Chinese painting, including handling the brush, mixing colors, and creating different textures. You will also learn about the history and cultural significance of Chinese painting and how it has evolved. By the end of the workshop, you will have created a unique Chinese painting you can take home with you. So come with an open mind and a creative spirit, and let's discover the world of Chinese painting together!

The workshop ticket is $15 per person, to be purchased at the link. There is a limit of 15 spots for this workshop, and all painting materials are provided.

The Heritage Museum of Asian Art's Entrance is on West 35th Street. Take the elevator to the third floor and turn right to the Museum Reception Desk.
