About the event
Join interdisciplinary artist Sabba S. Elahi for a collective embroidery experience that blends artmaking, memorializing, and community reflection. Participants will contribute embroidered names of women and children killed in U.S. drone strikes in Pakistan, creating a shared installation that holds space for memory, grief, and resilience. No prior experience is required, and all materials will be provided.

Artist bio:
Sabba S. Elahi is a Pakistani‑born, Midwest-raised interdisciplinary artist, educator, and cultural organizer working from Chicago. With an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, her textile, fiber, drawing, and performance-based practice challenges representations of Muslim bodies, militarism, and trauma through community-rooted embroidery, drawing, and collaborative projects. Elahi’s work has been featured at the Chicago Cultural Center, Hyde Park Art Center, Prizm Art Fair in Miami, and Northwestern University’s Dittmar Gallery, among others
