About the event

This online presentation introduces Tokyo Arts and Space (TOKAS), a Tokyo-based arts center dedicated to supporting the creation and international exchange of contemporary art. In addition to operating exhibition facilities, TOKAS has been running an artist-in-residence program since 2006, hosting both international and local artists working in fields such as art, design, architecture, and curatorial practice.

Presented live from Japan, this talk will offer an overview of TOKAS’s residency structure, application process, and artistic philosophy, providing Chicago artists and audiences with valuable insight into one of Asia’s leading residency programs. Please register to receive the meeting link.

Morning Asia is a program series by the Heritage Museum of Asian Art that introduces artists, art organizations and artist residency programs across Asia to Chicago audiences. Through artist talks and online presentations by residency organizations, Morning Asia highlights how artists live, work, research, and create within international residency contexts. The series fosters cross-cultural exchange, supports global artistic networks, and lays the groundwork for future artist exchange opportunities between Asia and Chicago.
