About the event

Tatreez is the Arabic word for embroidery—and for Palestinians, it represents more than stitches on fabric. It is a centuries-old indigenous art form that weaves together memory, identity, and resistance. Passed down through generations for thousands of years, tatreez continues to be practiced today, preserving the cultural legacy of Palestine through needle and thread.

Join us for a special workshop led by Jenin of Tatreez Jenin, where participants will learn about the rich history of this traditional craft and experience hands-on instruction in basic tatreez techniques. This event offers a colorful and creative way to connect with Palestinian culture and explore how art can serve as a form of education, resilience, and storytelling.

Bio

Jenin is the founder of Tatreez Jenin, a small business dedicated to teaching the history and practice of tatreez, the traditional Palestinian art of embroidery. Through community workshops, she shares both the technical skills and cultural significance of this vibrant art form, using it as a creative and accessible tool for cultural education. For Jenin, tatreez is more than a craft—it is a living archive of Palestinian identity, artistry, and heritage. Her work centers on connecting communities through storytelling, color, and tradition, one stitch at a time.
