Docents
Docents are volunteers who serve as tour guides. They are knowledgeable about the museum’s collection and are able to provide general tours and answer questions. Docents lead tours for school field trips, 3rd Friday free tour nights, and special groups. New docents will attend training sessions in which they learn about the collection and shadow a tour. New docents are provided with training materials. They are expected to be familiar with the training materials and independently learn more about objects in the collection. Docents have a passion for Asian art and history. They are inspired to learn more about the collection and enjoy sharing their knowledge with the public. As representatives of the Heritage Museum of Asian Art, docents are committed to the museum’s mission and goals.
Docents are required to give 9 tours per year to maintain active status.
