On June 9th, the Heritage Museum successfully held its 9th anniversary celebration dinner. All aspects of the evening were brilliant displays of the rich, unique charm of Asian traditional culture.

On the evening of the dinner, the Museum was very honored to host Willie Preston (State Senator, 16th District), Theresa Mah (State Representative, 24th District), Cyril Nichols (State Representative, 32nd District), Hoan Huynh (State Representative, 13th District), Nicole Lee (11th Ward Alderwoman), James Ramos (City of Chicago's Deputy Treasurer), Shuai Liu and Kun Yuan (Consulate General of The People's Republic of China in Chicago), and other guests. We are thankful for the presence of over 100 guests, who showed their support and encouragement to the museum and demonstrated the impact of Asian traditional culture.

The night continued with a live musical performance of a traditional Chinese instrument, the Guzheng. The skilled instrumentalist captivated the attentive audience, immersing them in the ancient hand movements as the crisp sound of the Guzheng echoed throughout the museum.

In addition to live music, professional dancers were also invited to perform Han Dynasty and Tang Dynasty dances in Hanfu, a form of traditional clothing. The magnificence of the Hanfu and the elegance of the dances complemented each other, and the dancers’ graceful movements showed the beauty of traditional Asian culture. The audience was deeply moved by this wonderful dance performance and applauded in succession.

In order to provide a more in-depth experience of traditional Asian culture, masters of Chinese calligraphy and seal carving were invited to write and engrave seals for the guests. The calligrapher splashed ink and wrote ancient Chinese characters, showing unique artistic charm and sending blessings to the guests present. The seal carver skillfully carved out designs with his dexterous knife techniques, every stroke and movement embodying the essence of ingenuity and art. The guests rushed to commission handmade calligraphy and seals for themselves.

The buffet that night was even more exquisite. A number of local Asian restaurants provided guests with delicious cuisine, including spicy Thai-style fried chicken, fresh Japanese-style sushi, and a number of traditional Chinese dim sum and pastries. The guests tasted a variety of delicacies, as if traveling on a culinary journey around Asia. Everyone was full of praise for these dishes, as they all felt the diverse charms of Asian culinary culture.

During the event, the Museum's Board of Directors and managers also delivered important speeches, conveying to the guests participating in the ceremony their commitment to promoting traditional Asian art and their support for the development of the museum.

On behalf of the board of directors, Museum Board of Director Dr. Kim K Tee delivered a speech introducing the museum's latest exhibition project, "Revisiting the Dragon". Dr. Kim thanked Platinum sponsor Shitan Zheng, Gold sponsor Chinatown Parking Lot, Silver sponsor ADG, Sushi +, as well as other sponsors for their support. He also expressed his gratitude to State representative Theresa Mah, Alderman of Chicago's 11th District Nicole Lee, Consul Kun Yuan and Consul Shuai Liu of the Chinese Consulate General in Chicago, and other distinguished guests. Mr. Kim also introduced the Directors of the Museum, including Jeffery Moy, Raymond Moy, Hui Huang, Shitan Zheng and Jiewen Xu, to the guests present.

In her speech, Dee Lyu, Museum Associate Executive Director, detailed the important role of the Heritage Museum of Asian Art in preserving and displaying Asian culture, as well as its key function as a bridge for cultural exchange between the East and the West. Ms. Lyu also thanked the founder of the museum, Jeffery Moy, for creating the Heritage Museum nine years ago. She then explained how, in order to better carry out traditional cultural education and serve the community, the museum provides free visits and various workshops every month. The purpose of the museum is to contribute to the community and the city, and to preserve and promote Asian art.

The celebration was a successful gathering that showcased the achievements and efforts of the Heritage Museum as a center for the preservation and promotion of Asian culture. Thank you to all the guests present for their support, as well as the on-site staff for making this celebration an unforgettable commemoration of Asian culture.
